our story
rooted in the south west
recognised across the world
Stuart Garden Architecture was established in Somerset with a clear aim: to design and craft bespoke garden structures of a quality that would surpass anything mass-produced. Over more than 35 years, that aim remains the same. From the workshop at Burrow Hill Farm in Wiveliscombe, a skilled team of craftsmen continues to produce some of the finest bespoke timber garden structures available anywhere in the UK.
What started as a deep knowledge of timber and a dedication to getting things right has developed into a portfolio that covers private estates, hotel grounds, heritage gardens, and prominent commercial projects. Private clients, landscape architects, garden designers, developers, and architects nationwide trust Stuart Garden Architecture to realise their most refined outdoor visions.
CRAFT THAT
SPEAKS FOR ITSELF
Reputation in this field cannot be bought or rushed. It is built one commission at a time, through the quality of the timber, the precision of the joinery, and the care taken at every stage from first conversation to final installation. Stuart Garden Architecture has been featured in

featured commissions
Our projects have ranged from private residential gardens to landmark public commissions. At the Old Henley Brewery in Oxfordshire, the team designed and installed circular and straight pergolas, a gatehouse, a stairwell shelter, and planters. At Ellenborough Park in Cheltenham, a sympathetic diamond pattern design was developed for a luxury hotel. At Bushey Rose Garden in Hertfordshire, curved and straight oak benches were crafted from the original Thomas Mawson designs, earning a Highly Commended award at the 2012 Landscape Institute Awards.
the right timber
chosen for the right reasons
Every structure begins with the right material, chosen for how it will perform over time and how it will look as it ages. Timber is selected carefully for each application, with natural and painted finishes each calling for different species suited to the purpose. All timber is sourced from UK merchants holding timber accreditation, ensuring every piece of wood we use is legally and sustainably sourced.
a process built around you
Every commission begins with a discussion. Whether you have a fully developed brief or just an idea of what your outdoor space could become, the team will take the time to listen before anything is sketched or quoted. Site visits, detailed scaled drawings, and itemised quotations are all part of the process, designed to be comprehensive without being complicated.
Nothing leaves the Somerset workshop unless it upholds the standards expected of the Stuart Garden Architecture name. It is as simple as that, and it has been this way from the start.
