our services
Every commission is handled entirely in-house, from the initial consultation to the moment a structure is placed in your garden. We provide a comprehensive service covering design, manufacturing, and installation, with specialist expertise in joinery and wood carving. Regardless of the project’s size, the same care and attention are applied throughout.
Site Visits
For projects that need careful planning and measurement, we include site visits as part of our service. Our designers are hands-on and visit you to discuss, survey, and measure to gain a detailed understanding of the garden and its needs. It’s a chance to meet in person, understand the space fully, and discuss options before making any decisions.
We collaborate with private clients, landscape architects, garden designers, planners, architects, and specifiers, and a visit to the garden often makes the difference between a good result and an exceptional one.
01
Design
Our designers utilise extensive experience to craft designs that suit you, your garden, and your property. The process starts with a conversation, either by phone or email, to understand your goals. We may begin with a pencil sketch or photographs of previous work to brainstorm ideas, then move on to CAD drawings and 3D visuals. In most cases, once we have discussed your requirements and obtained the key measurements, either directly from you or during a site visit, we have everything needed to produce a scaled drawing and a detailed quotation.
We are experts at listening to and interpreting your ideas, and we pride ourselves on ensuring the result is precisely aligned with the client’s vision and the property.
02
Manufacture
Everything is handcrafted and finished by our team at the Somerset workshop, a close-knit group of eight whose collective experience ranges from craftsmen with over 30 years at Stuart Garden Architecture to our current apprentice. Traditional methods are at the heart of everything we make, and our standards have never changed: nothing leaves the workshop unless it is worthy of the Stuart Garden Architecture name.
We utilise specialist woodworking machinery alongside meticulous hand finishing, a combination that ensures precision without sacrificing the personal care that characterises each piece. Construction methods are selected for durability and structural integrity. Joinery techniques include mortice and tenon, half lap, and dowel joints, each chosen to meet the structural requirements of the piece.
03
Installation
We provide installation or delivery with every commission. The team that comes to your garden is the same team that built the structure, ensuring the same attention to detail, precision, and care is carried through from the workshop to the final installation. For clients who prefer to manage installation themselves, installation instructions are provided.
We understand that an installation often takes place in a client’s home garden. Our team is conscientious, discreet, and tidy throughout. We are equally experienced working alongside contractors and developers on larger schemes and are well practised at meeting deadlines and adapting to the inevitable changes that complex projects bring.

Aftercare
Our relationship with a client does not end at installation. We are always happy to return to your garden to inspect structures, carry out condition checks, and perform any repairs that may be needed over time. Aftercare visits are chargeable and can be arranged at any time. We also provide care instructions with every commission, giving you everything you need to keep your structure in the best possible condition.
