Guarantees
A Stuart Garden Architecture structure is built to last. The timber is selected for its durability and outdoor suitability, the joinery is precise, and the finish is applied to a standard we are proud to endorse. That confidence in our work is the foundation of everything on this page.
We stand by our work
We do not offer a formal warranty, but we stand strongly behind everything we create. If there is an issue with a structure, we want to hear about it. Contact us with photographs and a description of the problem, and we will assess it quickly and work with you to resolve it. Every case is handled individually, and we will not walk away from a problem.
The timber we select, the joinery techniques we employ, and the manufacturing processes we have refined over more than 35 years are all chosen with longevity and durability in mind. When something falls short of the standard we set for ourselves, we take it very seriously.
Care instructions & Care products
Every commission includes written care and maintenance instructions tailored to the specific timber and finish. These outline what to expect as your structure ages, recommended maintenance, and how to preserve it in the best condition over the years. We ask that you follow these instructions, as proper care greatly influences the long-term performance of any timber structure.
Before we leave a completed installation, we conduct a thorough assessment of the finished work with you. Clients with painted structures are provided with a supply of touch-up paint to keep on hand for any future knocks or scratches. If you require additional paint, we are always happy to arrange it.
What to expect from your timber
Timber is a natural material and behaves accordingly. Structures made from air-dried oak may develop some natural cracking and movement over time, especially in the first year or two. This is a normal feature of the material and does not compromise structural integrity. Oak tannins can also cause some leaching in the early stages of weathering; this naturally diminishes as the timber ages to its typical silver-grey hue. We explain all of this in the care instructions provided with every commission, so there are no surprises.
Iroko, our most popular species, is naturally resistant to rot and insect attack and ages very well without treatment. With regular oiling, it will keep its golden hue for much longer. All the specific characteristics of your selected timber are detailed in the care documentation we provide.
The strongest evidence of quality
We have many clients who have returned to commission more work over the years, and it’s common for new property owners to seek us out after discovering an existing Stuart Garden Architecture structure in their garden. That repeat business and those conversations truly reflect how our work ages over time, and they matter more to us than any formal guarantee could.
If you have a query about an existing commission, need to discuss a potential issue, or would like to arrange an aftercare visit, call us on 01984 667458 or contact us.
