Versailles Planters
& Classical Designs
Our Versailles planter is inspired by the classical French design, featuring panelled sides, corner posts, and decorative detailing. Available in natural timber or painted finish, the Versailles style offers timeless elegance suitable for period properties and formal gardens. We produce the traditional design with ball finials, alongside a Versailles flat top version for those preferring sleek, contemporary lines.
We also produce a flat top Versailles for those wanting a cleaner, more contemporary profile. Circular planters are available as bespoke commissions and are among our most popular requests.
Timber Selection & Finish Options
Planters in a natural finish are made from iroko, selected for its durability and resistance to decay. For painted finishes, we use sapele, accoya, or tricoya, each offering excellent stability and longevity.
We provide optional protective finishes to maintain the timber’s natural colour or painted finishes when planters need to complement specific architectural details or colour schemes. Painted Versailles planters are particularly effective in formal settings, offering crisp definition against stonework or rendered facades.

A planter with a trellis combines plant support with a sturdy base, creating an enclosed feature for climbing plants. This setup works especially well on terraces, patios, and roof gardens where vertical planting is needed but border access isn’t possible.
