private customers

For most people, shaping or transforming an outdoor space is a once-in-a-lifetime project. It deserves to be regarded as such. At Stuart Garden Architecture, every private commission begins with that understanding, and everything that follows is built around it.

Designed around you,
built to last

Whether you have a fully formed vision or simply know that your garden warrants a more thoughtful approach, we take the time to understand your ambitions before any drawings or quotes are made. Our designers visit in person, survey the space carefully, and listen. From that conversation, a design emerges: scaled drawings customised to your garden, property, and the way you plan to use it.

Every structure we create is bespoke and made to order from our workshop in the South West. There are no off-the-shelf solutions, no compromise on materials, and no shortcuts in craftsmanship. A commission may utilise our established range, be designed entirely from scratch, or blend both approaches. What matters is that the final result is unmistakably suited to the garden it was made for.

A range as considered as the gardens it serves

Stuart Garden Architecture offers a wide range of bespoke garden structures for private clients, including pergolas, gazebos, arbours, garden arches, hardwood gates, jointed trellis, screening, timber planters, garden seating, obelisks, bridges, and porches. Each item is available in various designs, from the classically proportioned to the subtly contemporary, and can be finished in natural timber or painted in any colour to suit the broader garden scheme.

Our range showcases over 35 years of collaborating closely with private clients and understanding what elevates a garden structure from functional to truly beautiful. Our work has been featured in The English Garden, BBC Gardens Illustrated, Country Life, Elle Decoration, Garden Design Journal, Period Ideas, and Grand Designs, reflecting the recognised quality that private clients have relied on for decades.

Made in Somerset,
installed with care

Every piece is handcrafted at our Somerset workshop by a team of highly skilled craftsmen and finished to a standard we are proud to uphold. When installation day arrives, the team that attends your garden is the same team that built the structure. They are conscientious, discreet, and tidy, and approach every garden with the same care and respect they would wish for their own.

We consider a commission complete only when you are using it and satisfied with it. That has always been our measure, and it remains so.
